That simple advice...

During a weekend chai time with my dad, he told ' Age is the high price to pay for maturity'. I said 'For that I have to be really aged' !

In one of those instances of feeling low in office, I remembered what my dad had told. And came to my mind the latest topic my friends always discussed about - Mid-life crisis. Going through the Mid life crises aura around my friends, I was convinced that I am also going through it.

I wanted to talk about it and then came to my mind, Ramaiah Sir. Ramaiah Sir was one of my interviewers and I have had a special admiration towards him. I went to talk to him. I said ' Sir, I am going through Mid life crisis'. He gave me a surprised look and said 'Do you even know what Mid life crisis is? Mid-life crisis happens to those women in their late fifties whose children are away studying/working, who do not want to do anything in life but to look after maids at their homes'. I thought 'I could still imagine myself doing nothing but look after maids, but God! I was definitely not in my fifties or anywhere close to fifty'.

I told 'Sir, the age factor in the crisis is not fitting myne. Is there anything called the Quarter life crisis?'. Sir smiled and told 'Quarter life crisis happens to those young women in their 20s who have everything in their lives but Passion. And they don't give back to the society'. I paused a moment and thought 'Bingo! That's me. I was in my late 20s and so the age factor of crisis did fit. I had everything in life- nice family, nice job. But definitely lacked Passion. And yes, I never thought of giving back to the society'.

That advice from Ramaiah Sir is still fresh in my mind. And I look back to see the changes I made since then. I cultivated the hobbies that I had kept on back seat. And yes, I started giving back to the society in the ways I could.

Its easy to lose track in life. It's also easy to get help to come back to track - be it a simple advice.
