Cheers, its India !

Expression is the process of making known one's thoughts or feelings. When Aseem trivedi expressed the current affairs of our beloved country in his artistic cartoons, it fired controversies because our democratic goverment thought that the cartoons were seditious. Then, these words hovered around my mind..

"Democracy should challenge eloquence, should not charr it"

When Anna Hazare and his team revolted the government and came to streets with enough nationwide supporters  that were vexed up with the government or the politicians, I really thought there could have been a revolution unless there were no clings on the bills with judicial powers. The Anna's team then thought that the way to break something is only being in that thing, the thing called the politics.

Lakhs of people fought for our country's independence from British to only set the current politicians to be independent of morality and ethics. Thousands of our beloved soldiers sacrifice their lives for the country only for the  country to be swung by dirty politicians.

Country is made up of people - what type comes from the nature of the majority of the people. Lately, this nature has taken a wild turn and I everytime I stumble on it, I say..'Cheers, its India..', but with a low note.
Here's why I say that..

Its a ceremony in their house, dj comes to their house, the song volume is loud to be heard to 2 streets around till late midnight, somebody calls the police, police comes and gets bribed, the unstoppable music continues..
Cheers, its India!

The traffic signal doesnt have the counter to change signal. The green signal suddenly turns orange when you are in the midway.  The traffic constable stops your car on the other end of the road for jumping the red signal, which you literally have not. You deny to pay for it only for him to click the photo of your number plate and send the challan to your house.
Cheers, its India!

You go to the post office at 9 am thinking that the Central government offices open on time. One man comes in at 10 and opens the shutter. You ask for a form, he luckily gives and says that he will have his morning tea and goes out to chit chat beside the post office. He comes back after 20 mins and says that only he comes on time daily..
Cheers, its India!

In the midst of the busy shopping area, you find a big bakery. You get in and buy a cool drink. The owner charges 2 rs more than the MRP and when asked for the reason, says that the cool drinks companies dont come and give the drinks to his shop, but he has to go and get them...
Cheers, its India!

You go to pay the excise duty for manufacturing and selling goods within the country. The excise officer asks for an yearly bribe to be paid for he and his team to accept your excise duty on time...
Cheers, its India!

Government gives place for the BPL people living in slum from a long time. BPL People sell the newly given place and again go and live in another slum..
Cheers, its India!

You pay tax for your salary. You keep a FD and again go through TDS..
Cheers, its India!

My cheers are the ironical cheers which could be of so many others. But I make up my mind to revolt against these small things that I can. If everybody starts doing it, I am sure we will have a peaceful and morale country to live in.

I hope you are with me too. . .

A really thought provoking post...I think the large part of the problem lies with our

'chalta hai' attitude, our acceptance of mediocracy and keeping our distance when the

situations dont affect us directly. I think as a society we have not yet matured to a level where are fully aware of our rights and know how to fight for them...
