Schoologia..

I had been to visit my grandparents. They live in Shimoga which is in Malnad area. When I was young, the place always had a pleasant weather with lots of rains. Its near very famous tourist places: Jog Falls, Kemmangundi, Bababudangiri, Kallathgere, Chickmangalur. I share a very close bonding with that place and with my grandparents. I always had so much excitement in every visit of myne during my school holidays. Believe me, I always used to return tear eyed.

My parents were in transferrable jobs and at one point of time, it took a toll on our school admissions. During that time, me and my brother moved to Shimoga for our schooling. My grandpa was the President for this Govt. aided school - Sarvodaya Girls School. He always had that slight embarassment that none of his grandchildren went to that school . And I was hunted at the right time :) My tagging to that school for 2 years, brought into my life some special people. I dont mind sharing the credit with my grandpa :)

During my last visit to Shimoga, I did go to my school. Took my grandpa too who is otherwise always the victim of my grandma's scoldings at home:) Infact, his friends who engage him in talks from morning till evening are victims too :)

The school looked much the same as when I was there.

I remembered my teachers - RAK, ECB, KRG, HHY, TRR, DRR, GRB..I became nostalgic. It reminded me of the days when I used to come to school with my close friend Soumya on our cycles. Our daily kannada prayers followed by National anthem, our classes, PT in the big ground opposite our school, in-class fun, out-class fun, lunch-time fun., in-class fights.. :) :)

I had my surprise of the day when the accountants in HM office recognised me.

The now HM- RAK Sir called me with his usual tag - Magale ( daughter in kannada). I still remember one of the conversations I had had with him earlier. He had asked me what would I do if I get a chance to go abroad. I had answered him saying 'I would become Mod' :):). He had said me, 'Magale, I like you for your simplicity and straighforwardness. Do not become mod at their cost ' Well, I think I have kept his words :)

ECB used to teach English. I had always thought that he is the most cool headed person on the earth. I had never seen him getting serious or angry on any body or thing.

HHY used to take Physics and was our class teacher :). Well, I always had thought that shes strict :)

Got to know the demise of our KRG who used to teach Sanskrit, Kannada and Hindi. KRG used to be so knowledgable in the grammar of all these languages. I had taken Hindi as my third language just to learn Hindi and infact understand Hindi movies :) I think I am pretty fine with it now.

TRR who is retired now used to teach us English grammar and she was really very good at it. In one of our annual days, she had hooked me to sing a folk song on 'Idli' yes, the edible Idli :). I had put on a costume of a South canara Brahmin boy and was in the group singing a song on Idli :) I had invited all my cousins saying that I am dancing for the Rangeela song 'Yayire' and am the heroine of that. When they saw me on the stage singing a song on Idli, they were all red eyed on me. But, I did a dance on a song 'Bollywood..' in the next annual day and my cousins were actually happy that time :)

Thats my grandpa on the left..Hes running 90..I think hes the most handsome senior citizen on earth :)

I take out names of freinds from my school - Soumya, Spoorthi, Bina, Raksha, Madhu, Manjula, Manasa, Sandhya, Sunita, Jayashree, Kshama, Vani, Shubha... Gals, you made my life special and memorable.

I dedicate this post to all my teachers from whom I have learnt a lot and to all my schoolmates who were part of my that piece of life which I remember and cherish forever..
